Swar Vigyan
Harnessing the Breath & Sound: Introduction to Swar Vigyan.
Swar Vigyan—sometimes called the “science of breath” or “swara science”—is an ancient yogic discipline that examines how the flow of breath through the nostrils (swara) impacts mind, body and spirit According to its teachings, there are three primary nasal‐breath patterns: the left nostril dominance (Ida/Chandra swara, calming and cooling), the right nostril dominance (Pingala/Surya swara, energizing and active), and the balanced flow (Sushumna swara, both nostrils equally active, leading to inner harmony and spiritual insight). In this module you’ll learn the theory behind these breath channels, how they relate to day/night cycles, seasons, mental states and health, and why knowing your dominant swara at any given time can help optimise your decisions, energy, and well-being.
Practical Techniques & Daily Integration of Swar Vigyan.
Beyond theory, this course brings you hands-on practices to integrate Swar Vigyan into your life. You’ll engage in breath‐awareness exercises, nostril‐flow monitoring, guided pranayama and meditations matched to your dominant swara. You’ll discover how to choose the right time and type of activity—whether for focus, creativity, rest or spiritual work—based on which breath channel is active, thereby aligning your actions with natural energy rhythms. For example, when the left nostril flows you might favour introspection or healing work; when the right flows you might engage in action or business; when both flow you might prioritise meditation or deep spiritual practice. By the end of the course, you’ll be equipped to read your breath as a barometer of inner state, and to adjust your lifestyle accordingly—enhancing clarity, emotional balance and vitality.
